The flute is both an ancient and modern musical
instrument. Various versions of flutes have
existed throughout history in virtually all
cultures: Indian, Chinese, South American,
Irish, African. In some parts of the world
their flutes been have transposed into their
own national art form, like the Japanese shakuhachi
and the Native American flute. In the Western
world, Theobald Friedrich Boehm is the man
behind the their modern adaptation (what most
westerners think of as a flute). Flutes come
in all sizes and shapes and are made of any
of a number of materials like clay, wood,
nickel, silver, gold, pearl, plastic, ceramic
and bamboo. Some are small, like the ocarina,
penny or tin whistle, pan flute, recorder
or nose flute. There are many different fingerings.
Some play chromatic and some are pentatonic
scales, and how they finger varies with the
model. Chromatics can play each sound in major
or minor keys making them quite versatile.
Some are players by ear while others playing
primary by sheet music. Alto, tenor, bass...
you name it. You can play solo, in duets or
a trio, in an ensemble, in a jazz band or
brass band, opera, or orchestra...(continuted below)

Free Classical Music

Classical music is not as popular as light music so its demand is perhaps not as high as its supply. There are many classical music enthusiasts, composers and producers who offer free downloads of classical music from their websites. So there are many kinds of free classical music downloads available on net. You can download classical pieces of music produced by great artists like Pachelbel, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Brahms, and Bach. The music may have been performed on a variety of musical instruments like piano, harp, flute and violin. You can also discover a number of original music composers of classical instrumental pieces, like the Brobdignagian Bards, Ryan Farrish, Bassic, Paul Spaeth, and a variety of classical music groups. The first step in getting free classical music is to first identify which genre of classical music and which composer’s music you wish to download. It is better to prepare a list of your favorite music pieces instead of making random selections, which you may not like later on and which may have to be deleted. Having prepared the list of the pieces of your choice, it is when you start searching the Internet to download them that you find that what you really like may not be easily available on the Net. If you are lucky enough to find some pieces available for free downloads, their sound quality may not be up to the mark. Some of these files may be plagiarized and or may even carry viruses. These can damage the smooth functioning of your computer. The free offers are often irresistible, but the fact is that nothing really comes free. Your free classical music downloads might come with nasty advertisements and pop-ups or other forcible downloads. In view of the above facts it is advisable to carefully read the description of the piece of music before you download it. Besides, there are certain technical points that should be borne in mind in connection with the music download. You should preferably have the Windows Media Player of Version 7 or higher to play the music that you may have downloaded. You may also have to be bound by a license agreement before you are allowed to download.

...flutes will
play in harmony with other woodwinds, strings,
guitar, piccolo, and percussion instruments
when used to accompany. As a flute plays one
note at a time (can't play chords), the flautist
can make beautiful melodies by playing with
others. Flutes have been used with just about
every genre of music imaginable, new age,
classical, rock, punk, hip hop, country western,
Christmas, wedding, sonata or folk... any
song. From Jethro Tull to the virtuoso composer
Mozart who wrote his famous Magic Flute masterpiece...
to Beethoven (who was blind in his later years).
Are you a student, teacher or both? If you
are a self learner, you could study a free
lesson found on the Internet. Or you could
learn and buy sheet music, a chart, and perhaps
a complete curriculum from a company that
specializes in correspondence courses. There
is no shortage of companies that you can buy
accessories from like cases, printable sheet
music, stands, new or used flutes. Gemeinhardt,
Armstrong and Yamaha are each a popular flute
maker today.
